Buddy struggles to get a start in the ruthless world of show business as remnants of his sordid past linger. TRIVIA: Jackie Collins has written 5 books in her "Hollywood" series, "Hollywood Wives" (published in 1983) being the first. It was followed by "Hollywood Husbands" (1986), "Hollywood Kids" (1994), "Hollywood Wives: The New Generation" (2001) and "Hollywood Divorces" (2003). Those books were not direct sequels of "Hollywood Wives" as they had different characters. Collins was however initially supposed to develop "Hollywood Wives II" for ABC and Aaron Spelling, based on the first mini-series, but those plans never materialized. Instead, she made a deal with NBC to adapt her two books in the Santangelo series "Lucky" and "Chances" into a single mini-series. Although the deal was made in 1986, the mini-series was produced and aired on NBC only in 1990, as counter-programming to CBS sports in October. Following the success of that series, NBC also had the sequel "Lady Boss" turned into a mini-series in 1992 which was somewhat less successful. Finally, CBS produced a made-for-TV movie in 2003 based on Collins' "Hollywood Wives: The New Generation" starring Farrah Fawcett. Some of Collins' earlier books had previously been adapted into feature-length movies in her native UK in the 70s, namely "The Bitch" and "The Stud" with her sister Joan Collins in the starring role.
