Violence in prison becomes a way of life for many inmates. And when a loved-one on the outside is threatened, the situation turns into a powder-keg of emotions. Just how far would anyone go, to protect someone they love? Pushed to the limit; sometimes, doing the "right thing" means being forced to do the wrong. That's what happens for prison inmate, Philip Chaney and his beautiful and vulnerable girl, Rachel. Both do what they have to - in order to protect each other. I guess that's what loving someone comes down to really. Going that extra mile for them, and to hell with the consequences you yourself may have to pay. CAPTIVES. 1994. Nearing the end of his prison sentence; allowed out on day-release to attend college, Philip Chaney (Tim Roth) begins a relationship with, Rachel Clifford (Julia Ormond) - who works part-time as a Dentist at the same prison. Personally; I'm LOVING this film. I've only recently found it, and just cannot get enough of it now. And I'm floored by the remarkable performances of the incredibly talented, Tim Roth and Julia Ormond. I just don't feel I'm watching, actors "acting" - more like, I'm in the corner of the room, watching real people living real lives. And THAT, is what makes this film "live" for me. As with my first fan-vid effort for this film (CHANEY) I've done what I can with what I have - and what I've taught myself. Not earth-shattering, I know that - but I always put 110% into what I make.
