Emmys 2011, Best Choreography Nominee: Mark Ballas

This video contains the dances that Mark Ballas has been nominated for for Best Choreography at the 2011 Emmys. The dances are shown in the order that I personally like them, from least to most. Waltz: This dance is awfully beautiful, and very different than the waltz's we've seen done before on Dancing with the Stars. I love when a dance is able to convey a story, and this dance does that. Mark did a really beautiful job with the choreography, and I only wish that Chelsea Kane had a bit more talent and technique to refine her movements. Viennese Waltz: Well, I am a huge Harry Potter fan (Hope everyone loved the last film as much as I did) so I got really excited when I heard this song begin to play. I love the way Mark goes in and out of hold during this dance to add more excitement to the piece. I love the way they encorporated the theme of magic into the movements they're doing and the illusions they're creating. Great piece. Jive: This performance is one of my top five favorite dances from Dancing with the Stars. I instantly fell in love with this number and was really angry when the judges didn't understand it. I feel like Mark getting nominated for an Emmy for this piece is the perfect payback to that. I love the contemporary edge Mark added into this dance, while still keeping the jive elements intact.
