Sophie Lancaster Trial ITN News Details Of 999 Call Released

Sophie Lancaster ( November 26th, 1986 -- August 24, 2007) was a British woman who was brutally attacked with her boyfriend, Robert Maltby while walking through Stubby Lee Park in Bacup, Rossendale in Lancashire. As a result of her severe head injuries she went into a coma, never regained consciousness and later died. The police suggested the attack was possibly caused by the couple wearing gothic fashion and being members of the goth subculture. There is a petition on the Official 10 Downing Street Website, requesting the Prime Minister widen the definition of 'Hate Crime', to include crimes committed against a person or persons, on the basis of their appearance or subcultural interests.
