Sherilyn Fenn - Glas Iz Magle (1998)

Sherilyn Fenn was a Belgrade band formed in the fall of 1996 by Milan Bogdanović (vocal, guitar), Staffan Sladik (bass), Ivan Miljojković (vocal, guitar) and Bogdan Bogdanović (drums). All members were 16 and 17 years old at the time. Sherilyn Fenn had a short career on the Belgrade indie circuit, marred by turbulent outside events and was never able to reach a wider audience, due to lack of support from the music 'industry' of its time. The band played a series of gigs at relevant Belgrade alternative venues of the late 90s (KST, SKC, Dom Omladine, Industiji, Filiu etc.), occasionally performing outside the capital, as well (Novi Sad, Pancevo...) The beginnings were marked by strong influences of early 80s New York new/no wave, Sonic Youth primarily. Other influences included such bands as Joy Division and Velvet Underground. All this resulted in frequent experimenting with different guitar tunings and using spoken word vocals rather than traditional singing. During the first couple of years, Sherilyn Fenn wrote lyrics in Serbian. That changed around 1998, as the band developed searching for its own sound, using standard tunings, as well as more traditional singing (now mostly in English)........
