Based on the acclaimed novel by Jonathan Safran Foer, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is the story of a son (Thomas Horn) who lost his father (Tom Hanks) in the tragic attacks on 9/11 and takes a long journey through New York City searching for the lock box that fits a key his father left him. The movie has "potential Oscar winner" written all over it. Besides the moving story, the adaptation boasts a script from Academy Award--winning screenwriter Eric Roth (Forrest Gump), direction from Stephen Daldry, who has been nominated for nearly every movie he has ever directed (Billy Elliot, The Hours, The Reader), and the presence of Academy Award--winning actors Hanks and Sandra Bullock.
