Maurice - Maurice & Clive & Alec - Never Ending Road

Set in England in the early 1900s when homosexuality was punishable by law, this film tells the story of varsity chums Maurice Hall (James Wilby) and Clive Durham (Hugh Grant) who become "more than just friends". Their forbidden romance continues for several years until Clive starts to feel jittery about living a life deemed sinful by many. When a fellow varsity mate is caught and punished for an immoral act with another man, Clive decides to go 'straight'. He eventually gets married. Maurice tries to change his wayward sexual tendencies, even resorting to hypnosis, but fails when he meets Clive's gamekeeper Alec Scudder (Rupert Graves). They fall in love, but Maurice is doubtful of Alec's intentions. Alec truly loves Maurice and he is to sail off to Argentina. They meet for one last time before Alec's departure.
