Henny Penny (also known as Chicken Licken or Chicken Little) is a cumulative tale about a chicken who believes that the world is coming to an end. Our version of Henny Penny has been adapted from a musical script of the story that was written by Tom Whedon. An acorn falls on Henny Penny's head and she is convinced that the sky is falling. On her journey to inform the king, Henny meets Goosey Loosey, Ducky Lucky, Cocky Lockey and Turkey Lurkey, all of whom join her on her quest to inform the king. The characters meet Foxy Loxy, who lures them into his den with the promise of a shortcut to the palace. Henny, Goosey, Ducky, Cocky and Turkey appeal to the audience to applaud in order to save them from Foxy Loxy. They fail to get any response from the audience and resign themselves to their fate. Henny Penny however, is correct. The sky is falling. It falls and squashes all the characters flat before Foxy is able to eat them. Tom Whedon wrote Henny Penny-Straight, No Chaser for The Golden Girls, an American sitcom that originally aired on NBC from 14 September 1985 to 9 May 1992. The series was produced by Witt/Thomas/Harris Productions in association with Touchstone Television. The Henny Penny-Straight, No Chaser episode from which our script is adapted was written by Tom Whedon for the sixth season of The Golden Girls.
