www.davidlynchfoundation.org The David Lynch Foundation held its second annual "Change Begins Within" benefit gala in New York City on December 13, 2010, to raise funds to bring Transcendental Meditation to at-risk youth, veterans suffering with PTSD, and the homeless. Legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese addressed the gala via video. Mr. Scorsese offered his support for David Lynch's initiative to bring Transcendental Meditation to "anyone who needs it." Mr. Scorsese also acknowledged that in the past he considered suffering to be an integral part of life—an integral part of the creative process. Now, since starting Transcendental Meditation, he admitted that suffering "may not be the way it's supposed to be." In the second part of this video, award-winning CNN political correspondent and news anchor Candy Crowley discusses the importance and need for veterans to get the support they need to deal with their trauma, and how studies on the effects of Transcendental Meditation in those suffering from PTSD offer "so much hope." She then introduces veteran Dan Burks, who we hear describe, with tears in his eyes, his experience of finally learning Transcendental Meditation and the "absolutely transformational" effect it had on his life.
