What appealed to me enormously, apart from the sheer thrill of being published, was to have a shot at writing "Doctor Who" (1963). Not only that, but to write "Doctor Who" as I thought it should be done, effectively redressing what I felt to have been wrong with the programme in its later years.

The BBC announced on 7 June 2011 that 14 new episodes have been commissioned following the 2011 Christmas special, all starring Matt Smith.[24] Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill will leave their roles as Amy and Rory during the series, before the Doctor meets "a new friend".[25] On 15 June 2011, BBC One controller Danny Cohen stated that some of the episodes will air in 2013,[26] though a reduction in the length of series 7 has been denied by Moffat.[27] In September 2011 Doctor Who Magazine stated series 7 will air from late 2012.[28] Mark Gatiss will be writing one episode.[29]
