The Phantom is an American adventure comic strip created by Lee Falk, also creator of Mandrake the Magician. A popular feature adapted into many media, including television, film and video games, it stars a costumed crimefighter operating from the fictional African country Bengalla The Phantom was a TV pilot made in 1961 starring Roger Creed (best known for his work as a stuntman for Bob Hope) as the Phantom, with Lon Chaney Jr. and Paulette Goddard as the main villains and Richard Kiel as an assassin called "Big Mike" in supporting roles. The pilot, which never aired anywhere in the world, was called "No Escape", and saw the Phantom trying to break up a slave camp in the jungle. The pilot was made on a limited budget and only featured small-budget action. Scriptwriter John Carr originally wrote four episodes, but due to the fact that the pilot was never broadcast, they were never filmed. The TV pilot was once shown at the San Diego Comicon.
