I've been watching horror movies for over fifty years and somehow I missed seeing this classic until today. Made in six days for around $65000 Spider Baby is a highly entertaining horror comedy. It stars Lon Chaney Jr. as a caretaker to three psychopathic children who have a disease that causes their brains to rot. The opening scene shows a postman stabbed to death by a girl playing a brutal game of spider. Into this cozy little family intrudes a couple of long lost relatives looking for money along w/ a lawyer and his secretary. Mayhem soon follows. The film was directed by Jack Hill who got his start working for Roger Corman and went on later to direct Coffey & Foxy Brown.
