Impromptu - My Expenses

1991 British historical drama/romance from director James Lapine, screenplay by Sarah Kernochan and starring Judy Davis as the 1830's controversial writer George Sand who falls for the sickly Chopin. In this wonderful scene, Davis, who is terrific as Sand, comes asking for an advance of her publisher (wonderfully played by John Savident) while one of her recently jilted lovers Alfred De Musset (Mandy Patinkin) hides in the closet. Excellent production value in recreating the literary and music world of the 1830's.
