Adrian Cleasby - Gravity - feat. Fred Astaire
Go to www.adriancleasby.com and download the song. 'Its sublime... I love it' said one reviewer. Fred Astaire's delightful, legendary, innovative dance around the room comes from Royal Wedding, directed by Stanley Dolen in 1951. Alongside his equally brilliant hat-stand-in-the-gym routine, it makes the movie truly unforgettable. You might also get a kick out of the fabulous Jane Powell, playing his sister and dancing partner (a character based in part on Astaire's own dancing sister Adele, who quit show-biz in 1935 after marrying a real-life English Lord). Plus there's the opening number, 'Every Night At Seven,' their cute comedy-dance routine aboard a rolling ocean liner, and the dynamite 'How Could You Believe Me'. Not to mention 'I Left My Hat in Haiti' check it out! Jane Powell, known mostly for her operatic soprano, rivalled Ginger Rogers in her ability to keep up with Astaire and in Royal Wedding, she matches him every step of the way. As for the rest of the film, the plot is as thin as a whisp, breezing along. Alan Jay Lerner wrote the screenplay though this was five years before My Fair Lady. And finally, that girl in the photo is co-star Sarah Churchill - daughter of Britain's war-time Prime Minister, Winston! Get more of Adrian's music at www.AdrianCleasby.com
