Chino Linares and his wife Lisette are poor ghetto Puertoricans, whose marriage depends on great sex. When a petty theft lands him in jail, she gets attached to the relative independence that a job as fashion magazine assistant brings. By the time Chino is released, they bicker about upbringing their rebellious son (8), who needs more love and discipline, and soon discover each has been unfaithful.
