FW Murnau's "Faust"/music by Phillip Johnston: 7 despair
This is an excerpt from an original score for FW Murnau's 1927 silent film "Faust." The music was composed by Phillip Johnston, lyrics by Hilary Bell. It was recorded live at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art on Feb 6th, 2003. The musicians are: Phillip Johnston: saxophone, piano, ukulele; Kate Sullivan, voice; Guy Klucevsek: accordion; Tomas Ulrich, cello. The score is divided into 27 sections. This is 7 despair. These are excerpts from a video screener that I made for potential presenters. The next performance of the piece will be on Sept 10th 2007 at the Everest Theatre, in the Seymour Centre in Sydney. The time is 7:30PM, and the admission is free. The musicians will be: John Napier, cello, Elizabeth Jones, piano-accordion, and Lauren Easton, voice.
