Anthony Newley " What Kind Of Fool Am I" (1993)

The worlds of Anthony Newley and Federico Fellini are very similar - represented by their favorite metaphor - The CIRCUS. The Circus, symbol for the never ending circle of life. The Circus as own microcosmos and a parallel world to human life. Clowns (im)personate people of real life - the good, the bad, the poor, the rich, the clever ones and the FOOLS. It is the playground for illusion and desillusion.In one aspect Newley's and Fellini's views are very different: Despite desperation and despair Fellini sees an optimistic end, a light at the end of the tunnel, the good overruled the bad and hope is winning. Anthony Newley sees no hope and no redemption in the big game of life. The loud, hypocrite roaring crowd kills everybody, especially those who have their own visions and ideals . You can see this pessimistic view in Newley's whole work. In Fellini's "La Strada" the gentle tightrope walker(!) and clown "Il Matto" (the mad one, the FOOL) is killed by the strong, loud and jealous "Great Zampano." And this is my metaphor for the "Funny Man", "The Fool" Anthony Newley. Therefore I combine Anthony Newley and Fellini's "La Strada". A spin off my video "Goodbyes & Anthony Newley".
