Zachary's entire 5th grade class, as part of their American History class, participated in a play, called "Sing, America, Sing". It was written in 1984 by two teachers and has been performed every year for the past 26 years by the 5th grade class. The play gives a condensed version of American history, from Columbus to present day, so there are no major roles. There are 4 narrators and all of the students stand on bleachers (boys on right, girls on left) with group narration or singing parts describing the history which includes 2 dance sequences (a western hoedown and 1940's swing). After tryouts, Zachary "won" the role of Francis Scott Key, one of only about 15 major speaking parts. It was really well done. (The narrators had microphones, but the stage actors did not, and since the camera didn't pick up the audio very well, his lines are provided.)
