The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby Written by F. Scott Fitzgerald I think that The Great Gatsby can be viewed as controversial for a variety of different reasons. The book makes many different references at different times to a life of gangsters, as well as the life of partying and unfaithful marriage, not to mention the strong language that is used throughout the book. The banning of this book in some school does make sense because of the different things listed above are going on through the book and give off the wrong impression to the younger students who are assigned this book. Personally I really enjoyed this book. The Great Gatsby is a book dealing with pursuing the American Dream, and tells a great story about Jay Gatsby trying to achieve his American dream. I was lucky enough to go to a public school where there were no books banned and got to read this book during my sophomore year of high school. I really feel that this book should not be banned. F. Scott Fitzgerald tells a great story that all students in high school should be allowed to experience.
