Banned Books Week 2011 - The Great Gatsby
For Banned Books Week 2011 I have chosen to read a passage from The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald. This book has been banned in the past for "language and sexual references". I find that incredulous and would suggest that whoever took that decision has never read the book. I would further suggest that it is challenged due to more political reasons; those being that the theme of the book is the failure of the American dream. The Great Gatsby was F Scott Fitzgerald's finest moment and in my opinion the greatest work of American literature ever written.
