My dad filmed this with a super 8 cine camera. Initially it is the spring of 1981 with a meeting at Crewe Stadium with Bangers, Hot Rods and BriSCA F2 Stockcars on the bill. F2 Star men 753 Andy Morris and 804 Ian King are in attendence. Look out for the Morris Minor pace car driven with passion by Stuart Blackwell who still attends race meetings today! The Bangers are most popularly BMC badge engineered cars that would be classics today. Look out for the A60 van! The Hot Rods look the business - organised by the British Hot Rod Club - Minis and Mk1&2 Escorts seem to be the order of the day. Moving on we go to Belle Vue Manchester for the BriSCA Formula One Stockcars for a May bank Holiday Monday meeting. All the top drivers of the day are there. World Champion 1 Stu Smith takes a heat win. Look out for 53 John Lund, 212 Frankie Wainman, 260 Dave Berresford, 190 Len Wolfenden, 154 Brian Powles amoungst many others. Crewe 1982 is next with some pit action. We see 2 Willie Harrison arrive in his classic transporter. 198 Paul Trousdale unloads his ex Roger Boyer car next to Frankie Wainman and we see Paul battling in his heat with the higher graded drivers. Rochale 1982 follows and we see Bezz in his superb United Tobacco Company sponsored car come to grief on the infamous high inner kerb as 304 Dave Mellor lays into the opposition. Then it is the meeting final at Blackburn stadium in June 1983. 199 Mike Close wins after a good battle with Smithy! Finally it is a wet October ...
