This was the first dance in the show :) Thank you to all who came out to support, Please ask before using our choreo! --------------------------------------------------------- VCU VSA Culture Show 2010 - Saturday, March 6, 2010 Vietnamese Traditional Rice Drum Dance (Trong Com) Song: Tróng Cơm by Thanh Thảo "How joyful to have a Rice Drum; and it is an honor for those who can clap it skilfully!" are beautiful lyrics and melody of a famous song from Vietnamese folklore about the Rice Drum. Trong Com (pronounced Trohm Cuhm), also known as the rice drum, is a traditional cylinder shaped drum in Vietnam. It gets its name from the practice of placing a pinch of hot steamed rice in the middle of the drum skin to "tune" the instrument. With the females dressed in 4-piece dresses and the men in the traditional Ao Dai garment, we present to you the Traditional Rice Drum Dance.
